Chris' Christmas Quilt from A Little Bit Biased

 Hello, hello!
I recently had the pleasure of making
a Christmas quilt for a friend.  She was looking
for a quilt in dark colors that would really pop
against her white shiplap walls.  After seeing her space
(so I could get a sense of her style) and discussing
a few ideas, I came home and pulled these fabrics.

I decided to go with mostly red, green, and black fabrics with little pops of gold, white, and brown.

We discussed just making stars - which would be really easy to accommodate the unique size she wanted the quilt to be.  She has ...

My Red, White, and Blue Quilts from A Little Bit Biased

Hey friend.  I've been meaning to share with you all of my
red, white, and blue quilts - together in one place.
Hopefully, if you're wanting to make a
patriotic quilt, you'll find some inspiration here!

First up is my Star-Spangled Pineapples quilt.
This is a free pattern that Amanda Niederhauser (@jedicraftgirl)
and I created for our Five Fat Quarter Fun series a few years ago.

HERE is a link to the free PDF pattern and
HERE is a link to the original blog post with more photos and details.

Next up are my beachy, faded Stars and ...

Scrap Happy Saturday - Orange RSC Blocks Done from Sew........This Is My Blog

I got my Orange Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks done early this month.  Good for me, because we're headed to Seattle in a few days, and I won't be taking my sewing machine with me this time.

Once again, I had a limited stash to work with .....

..... but I did it.  Sawtooth Stars, Windmills, and 60 orange bricks to add to the rest of the RSC blocks.

Would you look at that beautiful ironing board?  Re-covering it has been on my to-do list for too long.  The last time I did it I used a double thickness of muslin ...

Glory Quilt from A Little Bit Biased

If you've been following along with me
on Instagram you may have seen a simple
star/flag quilt I made in July.  I finally got it bound and
photographed so I want to share the details
with you today.

In June of this year, I took a trip to McCall, ID, and happened
upon a really incredible quilt shop called,
J. Beck Home.  I was inspired by the red, white, and blue
fabrics and vintage quilts there and ended up
buying most of the above fabrics.  I had something like this
design floating around in my head for what ...

RSC-Purple Goal and OMG Goal Met from Sew........This Is My Blog

I was so busy sewing in July that I forgot to blog!  I set my goals for the month and posted them on the 5th, forgot all about blogging, and got to work.  I managed to dig up a few more purples for RSC2022 by looking through my Asian prints.  There weren't many there either, but my Sawtooth Star and Windmill blocks are done as are the 60 brick blocks.

My One Monthly Goal for July was to finish the One Block Wonder that has been on my UFO list for a while.  And I did it!  I had ...

2 Stars A Day Quilt Finish from A Little Bit Biased

I finally got some photos of my
finished 2 Stars a Day quilt!
If you want the simple, free pattern
 for this project click HERE.

I was looking for a way to use up my
beautiful Liberty fabrics and got the wild idea to
make 2 stars a day for a month with them.  It was a fun
challenge project and a good way to practice a little
stick-to-itive-ness.

I had all the star fabrics in my stash, as well as, the two background fabrics
(which were both linen fabrics - one tan and one cream.  Sorry,
I don't know ...

May RSC Green Goals Met! from Sew........This Is My Blog

This has been an interesting month.  Partly because I finally overcame all the obstacles and finished Natalie's quilt (Hooray!), but mostly because I couldn't keep track of what day it was, and the month was almost over before I got around to making my green Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks.  Green, any shade, is my favorite color.  (I'm especially partial to chartreuse!).  So I had lots of greens in my stash to work with and got all my windmills, stars .....

..... and bricks made in one afternoon.  Whew!

I don't want you to think I was busy doing ...

RSC-Pink Goals Met! from Sew........This Is My Blog

It's almost the end of another month and time to report on April's RSC2022 progress.  The color for April is pink, and even though pink is not very high on my favorite colors list, I've managed to find enough pink scraps to get my blocks made.  Here are my Windmill and Sawtooth Star blocks.

I added a third monthly RSC project which I haven't mentioned before now.  I want to use up as many scraps as I can in this challenge, so in January I found a stack of sixty red 2.5" by 4.5 ...

Rainbow Scrap Challenge - Red for January from Sew........This Is My Blog

The first time I participated in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge was also my last time, and I didn't do great.  Well, I guess it depends on how you look at it.  I made it my goal to make a donation baby quilt each month, and I did make three.  That's not too shabby, but I was disappointed that I didn't do more.  For 2022 I'm taking a little more reasonable approach and just making blocks in the color of the month to use in projects towards the end of the year.

Angela at "So Scrappy" announced ...

AccuquiltGo Sawtooth Star: Get Mileage Out of the Dies You Own from Mulberry Patch Quilts

You’ll see in my recent posts that I’m obsessed with learning how much mileage I can get with my Accuquilt GO!Cutter and the dies I already own.

I love the simplicity of the Sawtooth Star block and so I decided to see if I could design some pieced items with it using the dies I have.

Although I don’t own the 8” Go!Cube, I have almost all the shapes (see those in bold print on the list below). The only one shape I was missing was for the “flying geese” part of the star: the ...

Friday Quilt Finish: Color Outside the Lines is Ta-Done at Last! from Cheeky Cognoscenti

63 x 63 Color Outside the Lines, Bear Paw + Sawtooth Star Blocks

Happy Friday, y'all!  I have a quilt finish to share with you today!  I finally put the last hand stitches into the binding of my Color Outside the Lines quilt last night, wrapping up a languishing WIP (Work In Progress) that I started way back in 2014.  Woo-hoo!

I Hope You Appreciate the Azaleas...

I goaded my grouchy and reluctant husband into driving around with me to find a photo location with azaleas in the exact shade of pink as the hand dyed fabric patches in the ...

Audition Block

Ready to Piece

Just Playing with HSTs

Mom was exasperated.
Can I have just one room that is clean and uncluttered?  One room where I can seat a guest?
Is that too much to ask?

Design Wall

Two Rows = Half Done

Yay for the Flimsy!!!

Mom is an early riser and by early afternoon she needs a nap. If mom was taking a nap in the bedroom, we girls would take our toys in the drawing room and play as quietly as possible. And although we kept the noise level to a minimum the clutter and the mess ...

Making Fabric from Fret Not Yourself

"I do not know how you draw the line between fine art and craft, or
between the utilitarian and the non-utilitarian... I want to be an artist
... I intend to walk where I choose and not care which country I'm in."
~June Schwarcz,
Fourth National Conference of the American Craft Council, 1961

The quote reminds me of a recent well-written post by Kris of Pixeladies. I spend so much time {way too much!} worrying about all sorts of things it's a family joke. But I've decided to quit fretting about quilting. Even though I love stretching myself ...

Should I Jump Into BERNINA's Summer Sparkle QAL? from Cheeky Cognoscenti

Oh my gosh, you guys -- I'm so smitten with a new quilt idea that I'm tempted to mask up and head to my not-quite-local quilt shop right NOW to buy fabric.  Never mind that I'm still slogging away at the long arm machine on my Spirit Song quilt, or that my son's Beware the Ishmaelites sampler is still languishing, untouched and barely begun, and my Modern Baby Clam Shells quilt has been cut out and waiting for me to start piecing it for an entire year...  I have eight works in progress at the moment, and ...

Split Complementary Scrappy Slab Sawtooth Star Tutorial from Goer

This morning I shared a tutorial of this block with a few dozen fellow guild members of SCVQA during our virtual meeting. We miss having meetings and are enjoying the Virtual Coffee Break Zoom meetings that Mel and Geri have been hosting. Have your local quilt groups been meeting virtually?

Also, this is your final reminder to link up your improv projects by the end of the month for Show Me Something Improv. :-)

Split Complementary

My color palette for this block grew out of some color play with my Kona fabric chips. Analogous Colors are a group of three colors ...

Sawtooth Star Quilt: Colour and Inspiration Tuesday from Clever Chameleon

Sawtooth Star quilt colour board

Preparing for a big 2020

I’m starting to sort and pack up my things ready to move house after Christmas….. all my batiks are already in boxes, so you can tell where my priorities lie…..

Clothes? Nope. Kitchenware? Nope. Laundry consumables…… does the iron count?! hahahaha nope, because it’s only used for quilting…. Schooling supplies and toys? Some. Batiks and favourite books? …. Ready to go!

Biased priorities aside, in starting to sort my sewing space I have had to have a good hard look at my quilting UFOs. Many are moving house with me, and will form the ...
